In a world where technology is changing daily, the requirement for skilled developers who can adapt to new problems and technologies is greater than ever. If you’re seeking the greatest MEAN stack developer, you’ve come to the right s
pot. The MEAN stack’s meaning and applicability will be discussed in this blog. We will also discuss MEAN stack web development, its components, and how to hire a full-stack MEAN developer.
What Is MEAN Stack?
The MEAN stack is a framework for developing web applications with JavaScript. The moniker “MEAN” comes from the names of the four main technologies that make up the layers of the stack: Node, Angular, Express, and MongoDB.
Some variations of the MEAN stack include MEVN (which uses Vue.js) and MERN (which uses React.js in place of Angular.js). Web application development is commonly approached using the MEAN stack as a technological approach.
MEAN is a simple stack that is ideal for building dynamic websites and apps. This open-source stack offers a methodical and clear approach to rapidly prototyping web-based apps.
MEAN Stack Architecture
The MEAN architecture is intended to make developing web apps in JavaScript and working with JSON extremely simple.
Components Of MEAN Full Stack Development
Angular.js Front End
At the very top of the MEAN stack is Angular.js, the self-described “JavaScript MVW Framework” (MVW stands for “Model View and Whatever”).
Angular.js allows you to add metadata to your HTML elements to create dynamic, interactive online experiences that are far more powerful than developing them yourself using static HTML and JavaScript (or jQuery).
Angular includes all of the bells and whistles you’d expect from a front-end JavaScript framework, such as form validation, localization, and back-end service communication.
Express.js And Node.js Server Tier
The next level is Express.js, which runs on a Node.js server. Express.js bills itself as a “fast, unopinionated, minimalist web framework for Node.js,” which it is.
Express.js includes robust models for URL routing (which matches an incoming URL with a server function) and managing HTTP requests and answers. You may connect to Express.js functions that power your application by making XML HTTP requests (XHRs), GETs, or POSTs from your Angular.js front end.
These functions, in turn, leverage MongoDB’s Node.js drivers to access and change data in your MongoDB database, either via callbacks or promises.
MongoDB database tier
If your application maintains data (user profiles, content, comments, uploads, events, and so on), you’ll need a database that’s as simple to use as Angular, Express, and Node.
That’s where MongoDB comes in: JSON documents generated by your Angular.js front end may be transmitted to the Express.js server, where they can be processed and (if valid) saved straight in MongoDB for subsequent retrieval.
Again, if you want to get the most out of MongoDB, MongoDB Atlas is the way to go. With the touch of a button, you will have built-in comprehensive database security and cross-cloud scalability. There will be more about this later on this website.
Advantages of The MEAN Stack
With a cross-platform write-once methodology, MEAN apps can be used in a variety of ways. While MEAN is most suited to real-time applications, particularly those that operate natively in the cloud, and single-page (dynamic) web apps developed in Angular.js, it can also be utilized for other applications such as:
Workflow management applications
News aggregation sites
Todo and calendar applications
Interactive forums
Because all the components are built on JavaScript and JSON, integrating the stack’s components is simple and uncomplicated.
Furthermore, the MEAN E and A (Express and Angular) components are two of the most popular and well-supported JavaScript frameworks for back-end and front-end development, respectively. Express simplifies the routing and management of HTTP requests and responses, and it offers excellent support for middleware to handle JSON endpoints and form posts. Angular is a sophisticated framework for creating dynamic HTML pages that interact with a back-end server.
Whether you’re developing a microservice, a basic web application, or a high-throughput API, MEAN is the ideal stac
k for Node.js applications.
Because all of the MEAN stack components are open source, developers have access to a wealth of free resources.
Disadvantages of The MEAN Stack
Although JavaScript is a fantastic modern language, it was never intended to be used to develop back-end servers. Due to JavaScript’s nature, the MEAN stack—which includes the back-end server—may encounter concurrency and performance problems when operating at a large scale.
Furthermore, because the development opportunity is so rapid, business and server logic may suffer from insufficient segregation, resulting in potential spaghetti code and bad practices along the way.
Finally, while there are numerous manuals and tutorials available, they rarely contain concrete JS code rules appropriate for this stack. Therefore, something that functions well in one application could not function effectively in another.
Hire Full Stack MEAN Developer
Make A List of All Your Criteria
Make a list of all your project needs and success criteria before you hire a full-stack MEAN developer. You must concentrate your search on a gifted developer with the required experience. MEAN stack web development, for example, allows you to allow MVP development, regulate the client and server sides of an application, and even accelerate project delivery.
Examine The Candidate’s Qualifications
When trying to employ MEAN stack engineers, make sure they have the following characteristics:
MEAN stack developers must be knowledgeable and experienced in their profession.
Knowledge of many technologies and the ability to steer the project in the right direction, grasp the customer’s concerns, and operate according to the company’s vision
They are flexible and approachable.
When necessary, they can switch between multiple projects to assist teams in diverse areas.
They’re ideal for assisting when a project team is facing time constraints or attempting to tackle key problems.
Examine Their Project Management Abilities
When reviewing MEAN stack developer talents, make sure they have great project managem
ent skills. Likely, business development teams do not fully understand the technological nuances. MEAN stack developers with experience, on the other hand, may oversee technical teams and even lead projects. They can even identify various stages of MEAN stack web development and provide specific timeframes for the resources involved in a project.
Hire MEAN Stack Developers Who Possess The Following Vital Abilities
Aside from what we’ve already discussed, they should have some MEAN stack developer talents to provide high-quality web development services, such as:
npm, REST, CRUD, Gulp, Grunt, Socket.io, and Node.js multi-processing abilities.
Knowledge of Bootstrap Grid System, Typescript, Dependency injection, SPAs, Pipes, and testing is required for AngularJS.
MongoDB is a NoSQL database that performs well in ingestion, querying, data modeling, replication, and sharding.
They must be knowledgeable about the following as well:
JavaScript Fundamentals
HTML and CSS
GIT
DevOps
Examine Their Development Portfolio
A professional MEAN stack developer must have a reputable portfolio of past development projects. Request work samples from them to better grasp their development skills.
It does not, however, entail excluding rookie MEAN stack engineers because they are new to the sector and eager to learn new abilities.
In The Technical Interview, Ask These Crucial Questions
When interviewing MEAN stack engineers, there are a few questions you should ask to assess their in-depth understanding.
Define Scope, Routing Guard, Service, and Decorators in JavaScript.
What distinguishes a binary search from a linear search?
Explain how you can use closure to construct a private counter.

Finalize And Hire MEAN Full Stack Developer
Finally, it’s time to hire a MEAN Full Stack Developer to help propel your company forward. You should hire MEAN stack developers who are highly skilled and educated about all technical par
ts of the development process to avoid business risks.
When Is The MEAN Full Stack Useful?
MEAN follows the classic three-tier stack structure, with Angular.js as the display tier, Express.js and Node.js as the application layer, and MongoDB as the database tier.
You should research MEAN if you’re creating a JavaScript application, particularly one using Node.js.
MongoDB stores data in a JSON-like format (BSON, a binary JSON extension), and its command line interface (CLI) is a JavaScript interpreter. MongoDB is not only a JavaScript/JSON data store, but it also offers advanced capabilities such as deep indexing and searching into JSON documents, powerful native Node.js drivers, and is designed for horizontal scale-out. It’s even easier to create cloud-native apps with MongoDB Atlas, the cloud-native database as a service from the MongoDB creators.
Whether you’re developing a microservice, a basic web application, or a high-throughput API, MEAN is the ideal stack for Node.js applications.
Using MEAN Full Stack With MongoDB Atlas
The MongoDB Node.js driver simplifies and intuitively allows developers to work with MongoDB from within a Node.js script, reducing time and enhancing productivity.
You’ll also need a MongoDB database. The simplest approach to get started with MongoDB is to create a free cluster in MongoDB Atlas, the fully managed, multi-cloud document database as a service from MongoDB.
Atlas databases are simple to deploy and scale, and they provide a consistent URI to connect to. See the official MongoDB documentation for further information on connecting to a cluster.
Along the way, Atlas connections have built-in username/password authentication and TLS end-to-end encryption as standard. Furthermore, these connections enable you to use advanced MongoDB security capabilities like certificate/IAM authentication, LDAP, Encryption-at-rest, and Auditing with a single click.
Furthermore, an Atlas project can use the Atlas App Services applications platform to simply integrate a variety of authentication providers, including Google, Facebook, JWT, and custom authentication.
Atlas is simple to scale and manage; its main advantage is that it supports and secures the MEAN stack’s most valuable component: the data layer.
How secure is the MEAN stack?
We propose combining the MEAN stack with MongoDB Atlas since Atlas includes built-in credentials, a firewall, and end-to-end encryption, providing the finest foundation for securing your MongoDB.
A clear three-tier separation in the MEAN stack, together with best practices and network isolation, should prevent end users from accessing the database or business logic layers. Thus, by default, your application protects against malicious user activity including query injection, code alteration, port spoofing, and more.
Conclusion
There are many types of developers, but it can be hard for companies to find MEAN stack developers who understand their needs. Conform to their culture. Businesses can hire dedicated MEAN stack developers and get cost-effective solutions for their website, single page, application, or software systems using the above hiring strategies.
